Heritage Golf Group Enters Partnership with Knollwood Country Club
Historic Westchester County, NY Club Features Tillinghast-designed 19-Hole Golf Course
ELMSFORD, NY –February 16, 2021 – Heritage Golf Group announced a long-term leasehold interest in Knollwood Country Club, an outstanding Tillinghast golf club with great history, tradition and enthusiastic membership. Knollwood is the eighth property to join the Heritage Golf Group portfolio of private country clubs and high-end daily fee golf clubs in the past year.
“This traditional full-service club fits nicely into our overall growth strategy to invest in high quality private clubs in community environments,” said Mark Burnett, Heritage Golf Group’s CEO and President. “We look forward to partnering with the members to build on tradition and transform the club into an environment that reflects on the past and is inviting to the future.”
John Cavaliere has been hired for the General Manager position of the Club. John grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and is excited to be back in his home state. He has many years of experience running private country clubs after starting his hospitality career with Marriott. John has been working with the members as interim General Manager since arriving at the property in the summer of 2020.
“I am honored to be the GM of Knollwood County Club, with its rich history of golf, combined with the exciting improvement plans Heritage envisions. The members’ passion, coupled with the financial strength and private club operating experience of the Heritage Golf Group, is a strong platform for reinvention.”
Located about 25 miles north of Manhattan in Elmsford, NY, the Club features an 18-hole championship golf course with a unique and optional 19th hole, a short par-three to end the round. The course was designed by Albert W. Tillinghast, Seth Raynor, and Charles Banks. Club amenities include a member only pool, snack bar area, locker rooms, fitness amenities, golf pro shop, two tennis and two bocce courts. Members have several options for indoor and outdoor dining. Based on input from members, Heritage is finalizing plans to modernize the dining areas as the first phase of the multi-million-dollar club reinvention.
Member excitement is already building around targeted golf course improvements as well as the clubhouse food and beverage area makeover and new outdoor dining oasis. The swimming pool area will be improved with larger decking, Member shade areas, and additional comfortable seating. These improvements represent a planned multi-million-dollar investment to restore this historical venue.
